Lighting the way to communication and connection.

Building brighter futures—one spark at a time.

At Little Luminaries, we help children build confident communication skills in a fun, play-based, and supportive environment. Our approach celebrates each child’s unique strengths, nurtures their confidence, and empowers them to connect with the world around them

Our Treatment Philosophy

At Little Luminaries, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and seen. Our approach is strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming, celebrating each child’s unique way of communicating and connecting with the world. We use play as the foundation for learning—because that’s how children grow best and process the world around them.

Speech therapy at Little Luminaries is never about drills, pressure, or compliance. Instead, we focus on reducing demands, building trusting relationships, and modeling language naturally in meaningful, joyful moments. Every session is a chance to have fun, build confidence, and spark connection.

Meet Dr. Taylor

Dr. Taylor Hickok, DBH, CCC-SLP, is a passionate speech-language pathologist dedicated to helping children and families connect, grow, and thrive. With a doctorate in behavioral health, 10 years of experience in pediatric speech therapy, and a deep love for language, she brings a heartfelt, accepting, family-centered perspective to her work.

Dr. Taylor supports children across a wide range of communication needs, from language and articulation to fluency, literacy, and AAC. She is formally trained in a range of AAC systems including TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life, Unity, and Tobii Dynavox, in a Gestalt Language Processing framework, and is working toward her DIR-Floortime certification.

What she loves most is building deep relationships with her clients, getting to truly know and see each child, sparking moments of joy and connection, and helping families see their kids for the wonderful, capable people they are. She provides support and coaching for caregivers, a nurturing space to foster each child's strengths, and gentle guidance to help every child shine in their own unique way.

Dr. Taylor's heart for this work is personal. As a neurodivergent person herself, with neurodivergent family and friends and her own little neurodivergent firefly at home, she deeply understands and connects with the children she works with, creating a safe and regulating space where connection can grow. She knows that connection looks different for everyone, and that every way of communicating is worth celebrating.

Does your child use a speech device, and do you sometimes feel unsure how to help them use it at home?

You're not alone, and you don't need to be an expert. The AAC Training Bootcamp is a four-week coaching series where families learn practical, neurodiversity-affirming strategies for supporting their child's communication through everyday play and routines. You'll practice alongside your child with real-time coaching, and leave each session with something you can use right away.
